If you love leftover pizza for breakfast, you love this keto breakfast pizza with fresh crumbled bacon, basil and a creamy garlic sauce. Even a few eggs are cracked on the top for the ultimate slice of heaven first thing in the morning!

A low carb breakfast pizza for the dedicated pizza fans. Crispy bacon, creamy garlic sauce, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil are sprinkled on a keto pizza crust. Then we crack four eggs over the pizza and bake the pizza in the oven until the crust is crispy and the eggs are set.

When you cut into the egg with your fork, the yellowy-orange yolk spilled out and covers your pizza. You don’t even need red pizza sauce or ranch dressing to dip your pizza in. This is an incredible keto breakfast pizza recipe that will have your taste buds swirling with every bite!

I presented this recipe at a keto conference several years ago. Many made it along with me and all agreed it was a fantastic recipe. See the video below to watch me make it!

How to make keto breakfast pizza

  1. Make the keto pizza crust. This low carb breakfast pizza recipe uses a fat head dough as the crust which is made using melted mozzarella cheese, almond flour, egg, xanthan gum, baking powder and salt. No need for cream cheese in this dough! You don’t need those extra carbs and it does nothing for the dough.
  2. Make the garlic white pizza sauce by mixing ricotta cheese with garlic and salt.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheese all over the pizza dough. Along with crumbled bacon.
  4. Add dollops of the garlic ricotta cheese sauce over the pizza along with red pepper flakes and grated parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake for 4 minutes.
  6. Crack some eggs on top because eggs are a proper breakfast food. And bake for 6-8 more minutes.

  • Perfect sauce for breakfast pizza

The easiest way to make a keto approved white sauce for a keto breakfast pizza is to combine ricotta cheese, garlic and salt. This creates a creamy, garlicky sauce that you don’t need to precook ahead of time.

Look for a full-fat, whole milk based ricotta cheese when purchasing the ricotta. As a shortcut to mincing up garlic, I will often use garlic paste. I usually keep this in my refrigerator. It’s basically pureed garlic that you can use in place of minced garlic in any recipe calling for garlic flavor.

If you don’t want to purchase a garlic of pre-made garlic sauce, you can make your own. I have a recipe for keto garlic sauce you should try.

Although the creamy garlic flavor pairs perfectly with the bacon and eggs on this keto breakfast pizza, you can also use a red pizza sauce if you desire. My favorite brand of low carb, low sugar pizza sauce is by Rao’s. However, you can make your own keto pizza sauce too. It’s very easy and only contains 1.2 gram net carbs per serving.

How to make keto pizza crust

The pizza crust used to make this bacon and egg breakfast pizza is a fathead pizza crust. If you haven’t heard of fathead dough, you should read all about it in this recipe for keto fathead dough. I give you my basic recipe for keto dough and tell you the history on how it came to be.

Fat head dough is a keto pizza crust made out of mozzarella cheese, almond flour and egg. I also include baking powder and xanthan gum in my recipe to help the dough rise and provide structure.

The pizza crust puffs up like regular pizza dough and creates a chewy texture in the middle and a crispy outer crust.

The mozzarella cheese is used to mimic gluten in wheat flour. It serves to provide elasticity and support. Similar to the stretch that is seen when you pull apart a gluten flour based pizza dough, the mozzarella cheese provides the stretch.

Easiest way to make fathead dough

The easiest way to make keto fathead dough is to use a food processor. You add everything to the bowl of the food processor and pulse. A few seconds later, you have a perfectly combined fathead dough ball.

I’ve used an electric mixer to make keto pizza crust, but the dough tends to fly everywhere when mixing and the melted mozzarella cheese likes to ride up the beaters.

You can also combine the dough by hand, kneading it until it comes together. This is very time consuming and it’s difficult to get a completely uniform fathead dough.

The food processor I use is by Breville. It has a dough attachment to make combining the fathead dough easy.

    Breakfast pizza toppings

This recipe for keto breakfast pizza is very versatile. You can add any leftover meat from the night before. I’ve used leftover steak, leftover shrimp – but consider adding these pizza toppings too!

    • jalapeno
    • fresh bell pepper
    • crumbled sausage
    • kielbasa sausage
    • roasted garlic
    • arugula
    • tomato
    • mushrooms
    • spinach
    • scrambled eggs
    • green onion
    • pepperoni

Storage information & meal prep tips

Pizza is usually on our menu every one or two weeks, so of course, I have some keto meal prep tips for you!

Storing fathead dough or pizza crust

One of my biggest keto meal prep tips is to make at least double or triple this recipe for fathead pizza dough so that you have it ready whenever you want to bake pizza in the future. Fathead dough can be frozen either in ball form or rolled out like a pizza pie. Simply roll store in a Ziploc bag or tightly wrapped in plastic wrap.

Store the keto dough in the refrigerator for up to one week or in the freezer for 6 months. To unthaw, leave out at room temperature or in the refrigerator for several minutes.

    Storing leftover keto breakfast pizza

This breakfast pizza makes an excellent keto meal prep recipe. You can make up a whole pizza on Sunday night or whenever your meal prep day is. Then have a slice for breakfast throughout the week. Pizza is portable too! So you can take it with you on the road if you have to have breakfast on-the-go in your car or on the bus.

Store any leftover low carb breakfast pizza in a Ziploc bag in the fridge.

    Keto Breakfast Pizza: FAQS

    What bacon is keto friendly?

Of course, bacon is keto approved! It is made up of primarily an equal mixture of protein and fat. Some bacon can be cured with sugar. That amount of sugar is very minimal and won’t affect your overall daily carb count. But if staying completely sugar-free is very important to you look for brands that don’t use sugar at all.Stay away from maple bacon or any bacon that was flavored with maple. This will contain maple syrup which is just like putting sugar on your bacon.

Should I buy free range eggs?

Free range eggs are from chickens that were allow to roam freely on open pastures for a certain amount of time. Each brand will provide their free range practices on their website, so make sure you look into that if the practice of raising chickens is important to you.I prefer to eat free range eggs because the nutrient value is much better compared to conventionally raised eggs in a cage. When a chicken is allowed to graze on a pasture, they produce an egg that is rich in omega 3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). You will notice their high nutrient content by the color of the egg yolk. A free-range chicken egg yolk is bright orange while a conventionally raised cage egg is pale yellow.
